Are you an older American with Student Loan Debt and on Social Security? You may be surprised to find that this year, collections are set to resume, and almost 6 million student loan borrowers with loans in default will again be subject to the Department of Education’s forced collection of their tax refunds, wages, and Social Security benefits. Among the borrowers likely to experience forced collections are an estimated 452,000 borrowers ages 62 and older with defaulted loans who are likely receiving Social Security benefits.
