When consulting with a Bankruptcy Attorney, present the door knob comment first, not last.

I’m never really sure what Bankruptcy clients like to read in blogs. Is it case law, the code or practical matters? Well, this is a practical matter I want to share but it is important. Clients often visit with me in my office for a 1/2 hour and we discuss their facts and options. When we are ready to conclude the meeting I will walk them to the door and as I place my hand on the door knob, I hear. “Oh, one more little thing, I am not sure this is important but…” In my 17 years of practice, those Door Knob comments tend to be valuable information that needs to be disclosed. In light of that thought, it is better to bring it up the little things in the beginning, in the beginning, flesh it out and nip it in the bud.
